Heart & Home Senior Care has compiled a list of frequently asked questions that we hope will be useful in helping you decide whether or not our services are right for you. We encourage you to contact us with any additional questions that you may have.

Why should I use Heart & Home Senior Care rather than hiring someone privately from the newspaper?

  1. As a state-licensed health care service firm, we are regulated by the Department of Public Law and Safety (NJ Division of Consumer Affairs) and must adhere to regulations that were designed to safeguard the public. A private individual is not regulated by the state or required to adhere to these standards.
  2. Heart & Home caregivers are bonded and insured and have undergone comprehensive criminal background and reference checks. Our employees also receive initial and ongoing training. Private caregivers do not typically provide that peace of mind.
  3. Should a Heart & Home employee injure herself on the job, any required medical treatment is covered by Workers' Compensation insurance. Private caregivers may choose to try to seek reimbursement from your homeowner's insurance policy.
  4. Should a Heart & Home caregiver leave our employment, we can replace your caregiver, typically without an interruption in service. If a private caregiver resigns, or does not show up for work one day, you have few options for easily replacing the caregiver.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract for services?

  • Heart & Home does prepare a Service Agreement, detailing the services you have hired us to provide and the associated cost of such services. You are not required to commit to a specific duration of service, though we do ask for one week's notice before discontinuing the service. We recognize that with seniors, in certain circumstances, advance notice is not always possible. Our goal is to meet the needs of our clients, and we can easily increase, decrease or suspend services as needed to meet the client's changing circumstances.

I am disabled and could benefit from services you offer, but I am not a senior. Can you help me?

  • Yes, we provide assistance to individuals living with chronic illnesses, those with disabilities, and those recovering from a recent illness or surgery.

My mother lives in an assisted living facility, but needs some additional assistance in order to continue living there. Can you help?

  • Yes, we can provide our services wherever a senior resides - in a nursing home, assisted living facility or retirement community.
